Mehr News Agency to Go On Line Next Week

TEHRAN, June 17 (Mehr News Agency) – Dissemination of cultural information is the unique way to counter the global hegemony which has attempted to transform identity of the people, Managing Director of the Mehr News Agency said Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters, Parviz Esmaeili also said that the agency which will be launched next week is the best example of the achievements of the soft-ware movement in the country.

“By June 22, Mehr News Agency will officially start providing its on-line news services in Farsi and English after three months of trial dissemination,” he said adding that the agency will start Arabic and German services by end of the year.

He said less than 1000 million rials (US$ 125,000) has been spent on launching the agency which is available from today at http: www.mehrnews.com.

“Mehr News Agency has reporters in the Persian Gulf states, Far East, Europe, and Latin America. It will soon launch 10 provincial bureaus too,” said Esmaeili who is also Managing Director of the English-language daily Tehran Times.

Both the paper and the agency are owned and managed by the Islamic Propagation Organization.
