Iran ready to back expansion of media ties with Tunisia

TEHRAN, Nov. 12 (MNA) – Deputy Culture Minister for Press Affairs Mohammad Soltanifar said that his ministry will support the expansion of media ties with Tunisia.

He made the above remark in his meeting with the head of official news agency of Tunisia late on Sunday in Tehran and emphasized on broadening and enhancing media relationship between Islamic Republic of Iran and Tunisia.

Islamic Republic of Iran and Tunisia have a broad relationship with each other in the political and economic fields, so that amicable bilateral relationship should also be developed in media sector, he maintained.

Turning to the foreign media outlets which have a branch office in Iran, he said, “if the press sector or even radio and TV channel networks of Tunisia want to have a branch office in Iran, the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance will provide all necessary support.”

He put the current number of written and online media with authorized licenses in the Islamic Republic of Iran at 6,000 and 3,000, respectively.

In this regard, 170 representative offices of foreign media outlets are active in Iran, Soltanifar noted.

For his part, CEO of 'Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP)' placed special emphasis on broadening media cooperation between Iran and Tunisia in three sectors of supporting bilateral media correspondents, exchanging media delegations and holding tutorial and training courses in relevant issues.

He emphasized that cultural and tourism relationship will pave the way for all-out development of ties between the two countries of Iran and Tunisia.
