'Lotus' depicts the survival of one island after a dam flooded a village in northern Iran. It is an "intimate look at the daily routine of an Iranian woman who has survived modestly for twelve years alone in a house at the base of the mountain. She waits for permission to visit the island, which has a grave on it."
The ‘Lotus’ documentary has already been screened at different international festivals in Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Iraq, and the Czech Republic.
The 2018 edition of Kinofilm Festival will be held from November 24 to December 2 in Manchester, the United Kingdom. England's longest running short film festival has a unique reputation for showcasing the best short films from around the world, whilst being renowned for seeking out diverse, challenging and groundbreaking new films.
The event also has offered a special incentive for Iranian filmmakers, noting, “we realize the difficulties Iranian filmmakers experience by Western-imposed sanctions on their country. We also recognize the importance of new stories coming out of work by young filmmakers. Therefore our only fee waiver code this year is for entries from Iran.”
