According to Iraqi al-Sumeria TV, Abadi and Sadr declared their decision in a news conference after holding a two-hour meeting yesterday afternoon.
The two sides further announced that their alliance would be cross-sectarian and cross-ethnic to accelerate forming the next government.
This new alliance between the winner of the Iraqi parliamentary elections Sairoon’s bloc and the third winning bloc Victory Alliance is the latest attempt by the Iraqi political leaders to form the new Iraqi government. Almost two weeks ago on June 13, the Sadr’s Sairoon announced coalition with the second winning list Hadi al-Amiri’s al-Fatih bloc.
Amiri and Sadr announced at the time that they would keep the door open for other winning political blocs to join them in forming the government.
The main Kurdish political groups including the PUK and KDP in the north of the country have already said they would support any efforts by Iraqi political groups to form the Iraqi government.
