Foreing Minister Mohammad Javad Zarid made the remarks on the sidelines of a special session on Manifestation of Human Rights Standards in Iran’s Penal Code, in reaction to US Ambassador Nikki Haley's claim that a missile fired at Saudi Arabia from Yemen last month was supplied by the Islamic Republic.
Calling Haley’s claims baseless, Zarif said “there is no questioning the fact that Haley’s claims weren’t supported by any evidence.”
“Such remarks are made with the intention of whitewashing Washington's crimes in the region and the recognition of al-Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime, a move that has been considered as dangerous both inside the US and outside it by some pro-Zionist countries,” he said.
“American research institutes have confirmed that the US and Saudi Arabia provided ISIL with weapons, and today, they supply Saudi Arabia with bombs that massacre Yemeni children and people,” Zarif added.
Iranian FM said that in order to whitewash such measures that count as war crimes, the US spreads lies and makes allegations against Iran. “Such remarks are baseless since the actual arms dealers in the region are well-known. It is crystal clear that bombs and fighters that are used against Yemeni people come from the US. These are the realities no one can deny.”
