A total of 13 teams from four pools competed in the fourth edition of World Clubs Cup with the best teams of each group advancing to the semifinals.
In the first semifinal, Titan Mercury from the US matched up with and edged Mongolia’s Khimori. Two Iranian sides in Setaregan Sari and Easy Pipe Kashan met in the second semifinal with the latter gaining the upper hand.
Easy Pipe Kashan had come in strong as they beat Kirgizstan (10-0) and Georgia (7-3). Easy Pipe didn’t have as difficult of a time on their way to the semifinals as they enjoyed success from all rivals.
In a close finals match in Azadi Sport Complex of Tehran, Easy Pipe Kashan pulled out a 6-4 victory over Titan Mercury to win the title. In the third place bout, Setaregan Sari of Iran overcame Khimori of Mongolia to stand in the third place overall.
Much against odds, the two-time World Clubs Champion Bimeh Razi of Iran missed the semifinals after suffering a defeat in the face of Setaregan Sari.
Tehran played host to the fourth edition of the World Wrestling Clubs Cup on December 7 and 8. Teams from the United States, Canada, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Mongolia, Tajikistan and three teams from Iran competed in the freestyle competitions of the World Wrestling Clubs Cup.
