Veteran freestyler responds to Netanyahu’s comments

TEHRAN, Dec. 05 (MNA) – President of Iran Wrestling Federation Rasoul Khadem has issued a response to a video message of Israeli PM on Iranian wrestlers.

“Some hours ago, a number of media outlets broadcasted your message on Iran’s national wrestling hero, Alireza Karimi,” read Khadem’s message which is directed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The veteran freestyler and 1996 Summer Olympics gold medalist later stated “it came as a shock to me that, after years of hostility with the great nation of Iran, you still lack a proper understanding of Iranian people.”

The truth is that our people cherish their national heroes, feel proud over their victories and become upset with their defeats.

It is also true that all Iranians were hoping that captain of national junior team would snatch gold at World Championships.

“Nevertheless, one needs to bear in mind that people of Iran share consensus over the issue that Israel and its associates are great enemies of Iran,” Khadem underlines.

He said the Iranian nation, with all cultural and ideological differences, have well proven that they remain united against the enemy as evidenced by thousands of martyrs, who similar to Alireza Karimi, exercised self-denial and even devoted their lives to protect honor and soil of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“You shall never even think of catching fish in troubled waters since, Iranian people, of any thought, religion, ethnicity or taste, will always remain united in the face enemies,” he concluded.
