Pres. Rouhani to visit Kermanshah

TEHRAN, Nov. 13 (MNA) – Iranian president Hassan Rouhani will visit Kermanshah Tuesday to assess the performance of emergency First Responders and rescue missions in the earthquake-hit areas.

President Hassan Rouhani plans to visit the earthquake stricken provinces on Tuesday in order to assess the damages and monitor closely the performance of emergency First Responders and rescue missions in the earthquake-hit areas. 

The earthquake was centered 32 kilometers southwest of Halabja in Sulaymaniyah Province of Iraq, measured 7.3 on the Richter scale. It left devastating damage to Kermanshah province and was felt across large parts of Iran, including Kurdistan, Ilam, West Azerbaijan and East Azerbaijan provinces, leaving at least 328 people dead, and nearly 3950 injured. The number of fatalities is feared to rise.

In a message issued in reaction to this disaster, president Rouhani called Kermanshah the land of heroes and expressed great grief and sadness, saying “the governor general of Kermanshah and the interior minister are taking measures to help the rescue operations. The first vice president is also mobilizing support to facilitate the process of aiding the victims.” 

“It is imperative that we work in collaboration in order to help the victims of this tragedy,” he added. 

Offering his condolences to the victims and their families, president Rouhani said “the government intends to provide full support and aid for the victims and resorts to all the local and national resources for managing the situation in the region.”
