Zarif calls for stronger Tehran-Kiev banking ties

TEHRAN, Aug. 05 (MNA) – Iran’s FM Mohammad Javad Zarif said stronger steps had to be taken in order to bolster banking relations between Iran and Ukraine.

The Iranian minister of foreign affairs made the remarks at a meeting with the visiting First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv who is also the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the European country.

Zarif described Ukraine as a friend country and called for joint effort in removing barriers to development of bilateral cooperation.

“Further measures are required as regards banking ties,” highlighted Iran’s foreign minister underlining that holding joint commissions could be constructive in this regard.

Ukraine’s Kubiv, for his part, expressed pleasure for his participation in inauguration ceremony of President Rouhani adding “we are willing to develop relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various economics, investment, science and research sectors.”

At a separate meeting, FM Zarif received Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, who is also in Tehran to attend Hassan Rouhani’s inaugural ceremony.

The senior Iranian official, while referring to good relations between Tehran and Paris, stated that Iran held several bilateral and regional ties with France who remains as a major partner of Iran in the European Union.

The French side, for his part, said his country made serious efforts to preserve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) voicing his country’s willingness to resolve regional crises in collaboration with Islamic Republic of Iran.

Zarif’s other guest on Saturday was former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Wim Kok who said at a joint meeting he was delighted to be taking part in inauguration of Dr. Rouhani.

“Iran and the Netherlands are able to boost cooperation in various fields including agriculture, water management and other economic arenas. The JCPOA was a significant step taken since it accelerated the positive trend of cooperation,” he emphasized

Also the session, Zarif also emphasized strengthening of cooperation in various political, economic, especially banking, relations with the Netherlands.
