Iranian, Turkmen FMs call for deeper bilateral ties

TEHRAN, Aug. 05 (MNA) – Foreign ministers of Iran and Turkmenistan stressed the need to reinvigorate all-round cooperation between Tehran and Ashgabat.

At a joint meeting in Tehran, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Turkmen counterpart Raşit Öwezgeldiýewiç Meredow emphasized on development of comprehensive relations between the two countries.

Meredow said Turkmenistan was cooperating with Iran in various political, cultural and economic fields and was eager to deepen exiting ties. He added that talks would continue with Iran over defining legal regime of the Caspian Sea.

Foreign minister of Iran also confirmed that the two countries enjoyed firm relations and stated “grounds are available for further development of cooperation between Tehran and Ashgabat.”

The two sides, while referring to increasing danger of activities of terrorist and radical groups, stressed the need for a joint struggle against these groups.

Regional issues comprised yet another axis of talks between Iranian and Turkmen foreign ministers on Saturday afternoon.
