Young freestylers to depart for Bangkok

TEHRAN, Jul. 19 (MNA) – The national Iranian cadet freestyle wrestling team will leave Tehran to vie at the 2017 Cadet Asian Championship in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 2017 Asian Cadet Wrestling Championships will convene at the Bangkok Youth Center in Bangkok, Thailand. The event is slated to take place from July 20-23, 2016.

Iran’s hopes are pinned on Mehdi Veisi (42kg), Seyed Erfan Jafarian (46kg), Mohammad Ebrahimi (50kg), Mehdi Eshghi (54kg), Morteza Pourmortazavi (58kg), Amirhossein Maghsoudi (63kg), Seyed Mobin Hosseini (69kg), Meysam Zare (76kg), Abbas Forutan (85kg) and Seyed Mehdi Hashemi (100kg) headed by Gholamreza Mohammadi.

In the 2016 edition, held in in Taichung, Chinese Taipei, national Iranian cadet freestyle wrestling squad finished third in the Asian championships, having collected four gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal and an overall of 75 points.

The Kazakhs were named the top-ranked cadet freestyle team in Asia with 82 points. Indians garnered 78 points to claim the second position.
