Iran to receive 3rd new Airbus today

TEHRAN, Mar. 25 (MNA) – Iran is set to receive the third new Airbus aircraft from a batch of 100 planes purchased from the European aviation giant today March 25.

The third newly-purchased Airbus aircraft which is set to be delivered to Iran today had a delay in its delivery according to the schedule due to banking restrictions as quoted by IRIB from Paris.

The delivery follows the signing of a deal worth $18 billion on the purchase of a batch of 100 planes from Airbus. The purchased aircraft include 46 A320 Family, 38 A330 Family, and 16 A350 XWB aircraft.

The first aircraft – an A321 – was delivered to Iran Air on 12 January 2017, and the second one – an A330 – landed at Mehrabad International Airport from the French city of Toulouse on 11 March.

Iran Air A330 is capable of carrying 32 passengers in business class, and 206 passengers in economy over a distance of more than 13,000km. The plane can also carry about 36 tons of cargo.

The Airbus A330 is a wide-body twin-engine jet airliner which requires a 2700m takeoff distance and a 1730m landing distance, thus suitable for operation in most of airports in the country.
