Iran's ICT Minister Mahmoud Vaezi arrived in Baku on Thursday in the afternoon in a bid to follow up the agreements reached between Iran and Azerbaijan during the visit of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaija to Tehran in early march.
The Iranian Minister who also co-chairs the Azerbaijan-Iran State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation, met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev, on the first day of his visit to Baku. The two ministers jointly chair the joint commission of Iran and Azerbaijan.
During the meeting with Mustafayev, Vaezi referred to President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Tehran and highlighted it as an important event contributing to the growth of bilateral relations. Mr. Vaezi also underlined the strong will of Iran to develop bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Baku.
“As announced during the meeting between Iran’s Leader and Azeri president, there are huge potentials to expand relations between the two countries and efforts should be channeled to take advantage of these potentials to enhance the quality of security and welfare for the both nations of Iran and Azerbaijan,” reiterated Iranian Minister of IT and Communications Mahmoud Vaezi late on Thursday in Baku.
The Iranian ICT minister also voiced his satisfaction with the enjoinment of the rail route between Iran and Azerbaijan through the border cities of Iran’s Astara and Azerbaijan’s Astara and expressed hope that the north-south corridor will be soon opened through the rail route with a combinatory transportation of goods and passengers.
