Azerbaijan eyes more economic coop. with Iran

TEHRAN, Dec. 27 (MNA) – At the head of a big economic delegation, Iranian Minister of IT and Communications Mahmoud Vaezi is on a three-day visit to Baku and met the Azeri president on Tuesday.

Mahmoud Vaezi delivered the greetings of President Hassan Rouhani of Iran to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on Tuesday in Baku.

Iranian Minister who also co-chairs the Azerbaijan-Iran State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation, is heading a big economy, trade and business delegation to Baku.

Vaezi stressed on the expansion of bilateral ties in all areas of politics, economy, culture, and people of the two countries of Iran and Azerbaijan.

“We started the new round of these meetings while the economic relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have witnessed a significant progress compared to last year,” said Vaezi referring to the 11th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Iran State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation started earlier on Tuesday.

He also voiced hope for more growth, development, and expansion of economic ties in the next year with adoption of new areas of cooperation.

“The decision of the people of each country, including Syrians, for the future of their country, is the priority for foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” underlined Vaezi touching upon the important trilateral meeting of Iran, Russia, and Turkey and the new developments of the region.

President Ilham Aliyev, for his part, voiced his content with the flourishing economic ties with Iran and reassured that he is committed to remove any obstacles to the development of ties.

He also offered gratitude to Iran for providing the energy of Nakhchivan and said that it is very important for Azerbaijan that Iran has paid attention to the expansion of economic ties with Nakhchivan.
