In a message to the Speaker of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly Ismail Kahraman on Saturday, Larijani congratulated the victory of nation’s will, national sovereignty and democracy on a desperate and doomed attempt against the elected institutions in the country.
“The events of the past hours proved the vote and will of the people are decisive and the sovereignty with illegal ways should be sought in black sheets of history books,” Larijani wrote in his message, adding "people’s voice is louder than the sound of rumbling tanks."
Addressing Turkish MPs, the government and the nation in his message, Larijani said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported national sovereignty, the nations' will and the elected systems; “this indicates Iran as a system relying on nation’s votes and will, based on Islam-driven principles.”
Condemning the military attack on publically elected bodies in Turkey, especially the Turkish Parliament as a symbol of democracy and the will of the people, Larijani underlined that "Iran comprehensively supports the people of the friendly and brotherly country of Turkey."
He also hoped for glory, honor and growing succeed for Turkish Muslim nation, the government and legislative bodies.
