Iran has temporarily stopped exports of petrochemical products to the neighboring country following the recent crisis in Turkey which led to closure of West Azerbaijan border terminals.
At the present time, Turkey remains as one of the largest buyers of Iranian petrochemical and polymer products, especially various grades of linear low- and high density polyethylene, polypropylene and polypropylene.
Given the short distance, the vast majority of Iranian petrochemical products are dispatched to Turkey via containers through land borders while exports have halted at the present time as a result of border closures.
Political and Security Deputy of Provincial Governor of West Azerbaijan Alireza Radfar said that in the wake of the attempted coup in Turkey, West Azerbaijan border terminals are temporarily closed since early hours of Saturday.
The official reassured that complete security is held at the border of West Azerbaijan Province with Turkey.
