Iranian junior chess player claims Asian gold

TEHRAN, May 04 (MNA) – Iran’s Masoud Mosadeghpour has come first in the blitz section of 2016 Asian Juniors and Girls U-20 Championships underway in India.

The Asian Junior (Open& Girls) Chess Championship 2016 kicked off on May 2 the Indian capital of New Delhi where Iran’s Masoud Mosadeghpour bagged 8 points in nine compelling rounds in order to win the title at the Asian tournament.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Khalil Mousavi (5.5 points) and Nima Javanbakht (3.5 points) landed in 11th and 42nd places, respectively.

Also in Girls’ section, Vesal Hamedinia of Iran finished eighth with a total of 5.5 points.

The Iranian squad present at the event comprises Masoud Mosadeghpour, Nima Javanbakht, Seyed Khalil Mousavi and Vesal Hamedinia.

Attracting 59 chess players of 11 Asian countries in the Open category as well as 44 athletes in the Girls’ section, Asian Junior (Open& Girls) Chess Championship-2016 is being held in Hotel Park Plaza of New Delhi and will continue until 12th May 2016.
