Iran to attend World Youth Chess Olympiad

TEHRAN, May 29 (MNA) – Five Iranian chess players will take part in the 2016 World Youth U-16 Chess Olympiad to convene in Slovakia.

The World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad 2016 will take place in Poprad, Slovakia from July 21st to July 30th under the auspices of Federation Internationale des Echecs (FIDE).

Iran’s national team to vie at the international sportive event will comprise 4 boys and one girl.

Accordingly, Alireza Firouzja, Parham Maghsoudlu, Arian Gholami and Arash Shatranjbazan will consist the Iranian outfit in the Men’s section.

Also in Women’s event, the winner of four upcoming matches between Mobina Alinasab and Anahita Zahedi will be deployed to the World Youth U16 Olympiad.

The tournament shall be run on a 9 round Swiss system and each match between teams will be conducted over 4 boards.

At least 5 best teams will be awarded at the tournament and the 6 members of the best three teams will also receive Gold, Silver and Bronze medals though there will be special prizes for girls and board prizes as well.
