Iranian chess squad bags 4 medals at AYCC 2016

TEHRAN, Apr. 10 (MNA) – Iranian chess players have earned four bronze and silver medals at 2016 Asian Youth Chess Championship (AYCC) underway in Mongolia.

Competing in the Blitz Chess events of 2016 AYCC in Mongolia, Iranian representatives managed to claim two silver and two bronze medals.

Mahdi Gholami in boys’ Under-14 age category and Mobina Alinasab in girls’ Under-16 age group finished runner-up in blitz section while Nima Fenderesky in boys’ Under-16 and Mersad Khodashenas in boys’ Under-18 stood on the third podium in the same event.

The Asian Youth Chess Championship 2016 is hosted for the first time in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia attracting about 470 players from 18 countries including Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen and Mongolia.

The event officially kicked off on April 6th, 2016 and will wrap up on Thursday April 14 while the Iranian squad comprises of Fatemeh Mashahdi, Fatemeh Khodadadi, Seyedeh Setareh Sabtrasoul, Mitra Asgharzadeh, Mobina Alinasab Alamdari, Mohadeseh Alijanzadeh, Artin Ashraf, sushina Nejatpour, Mani Jahedi, Mahdi Gholami Urimi, Arash Tahbaz, Nima Fenderesky as well as Mersad Khodashenas.
