Iran’s Sarasadat Khademalsharieh, Atousa Pourkashiyan, Ehsan Ghaem Maghami and Mitra Hejazipour prevailed over rivals in round three of the Asian tournament while Masoud Mosadeghpour, Alireza Firouzja conceded defeats in the same round.
Competing in Men’s section, Ghaem Maghami subdued the Indian Grand Master (GM) Vidit Santosh Gujrathi to find his way to the fourth round with maximum number of points.
Iran’s 13-year-old chess phenomenon, Alireza Firouzja faced Rustam Kasimdzhanov of Uzbekistan in a tough encounter where he finally conceded a defeat after an interminable 5:30 hours.
The other Iranian representative Masoud Mosadeghpour also failed to win over the Indian GM M R Lalith Babu.
Meanwhile in the Women’s section, Atousa Pourkashiyan managed to down Qianyun Gong of Singapore to secure her place atop round three of the event with three points.
Sarasadat Khademalsharieh defeated Vietnam’s Thi Kim Phung Vo to land seventh with two pints while the previous champion of the continental sportive event Mitra Hejaipour of Iran got the better of Iman Hasan Mohammed Al-Rufaye of Iraq to finish round three in the ninth place.
Asian Individual Championship (Men and Women) 2016 kicked off on May 25 in Tashkent of Uzbekistan and will come to an end on June 05.
