Oil production soars in various operational areas

TEHRAN, Jan. 02 (MNA) – In time with the countdown for the lifting of oil sanctions, MOGPS has announced an increase in oil production in various operational areas of oil industry.

Jahangeer Pourhang, caretaker of Maroun Oil & Gas Producing Company (MOGPC), has noted the increased rate of oil production in operational areas of southern oil-rich regions in December, 2015 adding “more than 101 per cent of plans for oil production in Marun area has been accomplished.”

Pourhang further stressed the increase in crude oil production in Marun field in the current Iranian calendar year; “in time with the rise in oil production, the salt oil processing capacity has also increased in the region.”

Referring to the rise in injection rate of water desalination, the official said “with a daily average of 53 thousand barrels, over 97 per cent of water desalination waste has been injected to waste wells which marks a great step towards preservation and protection of the environment.”

“In the current situation, the oil production capacity in Marun area is about 600 thousand barrels per day which is being produced by hydrocarbon deposits of Marun, Kupal and Shadegan oilfields,” maintained Pourhang stating “in addition, the production capacity of associated gas produced in the area reaches about 25 million cubic meters as well as that 25 thousand barrels of liquid gas are being produced.”

Along with the increase in oil production in Marun, the amount of crude production in Karun oilfield has also risen by 600 thousand barrels a day.

Managing Director of Karoon Oil and Gas Production Company (KOGPC) Mohsen Dahanzadeh said in the current Iranian calendar year the production capacity of Karun oilfield has increased by 66 thousand barrels per day; “the total crude production capacity in Karun areas reaches one million and 40 thousand barrels per day.”

“Upon removal of sanctions and at the order of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), oil production in southern oil-rich areas will immediately rise by 500 thousand barrels per day,” Dahanzadeh emphasized.

Managing Director of National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) Heydar Bahmani has highlighted that drilling of new wells has not halted in Iran despite the sharp decline in oil prices.

Meanwhile, Deputy Oil Minister Roknodin Javadi has pointed out the country’s plan to increase oil and gas condensate production in the post sanction era by 700 thousand barrels adding “Iran’s gas production capacity will double.”
