Deputy Head of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) Hamidreza Khoshayand described the latest status of drilling new oil and gas wells in Iran adding “during the first three quarters of the current Iranian calendar year - ending at December 22 - with the concurrent activities of 75 offshore and onshore drilling rigs, providing drilling services went up by 11 percent when compared with similar period last year.”
“Since the beginning of the current year, a total of 136 exploratory, developmental-descriptive and repairing oil and gas wells have been drilled covering the wide range of 10 Iranian provinces,” he asserted.
The official maintained that during the first three quarters of the current Iranian year, numerous wells were drilled in various areas including 79 wells in southern oil-rich areas, 11 in the central regions, 14 in the offshore oil fields of the Persian Gulf, two at the order of Exploration Management Department of NIOC, 28 in the jurisdiction of Iran's Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) as well as two wells in other areas.
Recalling that during the mentioned period, the drilling process was accomplished 457 days ahead of the defined schedule, Khoshayand maintained “early production of well and early discharge of rigs hold a high economic value in the drilling industry.”
The official pointed out that in order to strengthen the country’s heavy drilling fleet, three drilling devices have been added to NIDC; “two devices have been put into operation in oil-rich areas in the south of Iran while the third one is currently in the stage of set up and pilot tests.
Founded in 1979, NIDC operates as a subsidiary of National Iranian Oil Company and engages in the exploration, development, and delineation drilling of oil and gas wells.
The company’s services include well logging, cementing and acidizing, drill stem test, well testing, training and development, and general services being in charge of all offshore and onshore drilling activities.
