American Titan Mercury wrestling team arrives in Tehran

TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (MNA) – The US team Titan Mercury Wrestling Club arrived in Tehran on Tuesday morning to attend the Free style World Wrestling Clubs Cup for the second time.

The second edition of the Free style World Wrestling Clubs Cup will be held on November 26-27 in Tehran, Iran and the US team Titan Mercury Wrestling Club have arrived in Tehran to compete at the event in Iran looking to build on their second-place finish from 2014.

Young Titan Mercury standout Aaron Pico was scheduled to compete in Iran at 65 kg but will be unable to compete because of an injury Titan Mercury will probably use an athlete from a foreign country to replace Pico in Iran due to the rules of the event which permit teams to use up to two international wrestlers from a foreign country on their roster.

Launched for the first time in 2014 following the suggestion of Iran, this year’s event will be attended by representatives of foreign countries as well as three Iranian teams and there is significant prize money involved in this dual-meet event.

The competitions will be conducted under UWW regulations in 2015 Free style in senior 8 weight categories in Azadi Sport Complex.

The Greco-Roman World Wrestling Clubs Cup will also be held in the city of Khorramshar, Iran on December 17–18.
