On the visit of Indonesian trade and energy delegation to Tehran and the possibility of buying Iran’s crude oil, Seyed Mohsen Ghamsari said “the policy of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is to sell crude oil to all companies, refineries and countries which consume Iran’s oil.”
Ghamsari further stressed Iran’s readiness to sell oil to all consumers in the world; “if Indonesia makes a formal request for purchasing Iran’s crude oil, we are ready to review their proposal," he asserted.
The new round of talks will probably start today in Tehran between Iranian oil and energy officials and Indonesia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi as well as Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said to mark the beginning of a new era of trade and economic relations between Tehran and Jakarta.
Alwi Shihab Indonesian president’s special envoy to the Middle East and a 27-member delegation are accompanying the two Indonesian ministers in their visit to Iran.
The main goals of the visiting trade and economic delegation include development of bilateral cooperation in the fields of oil, gas, LNG, petroleum products and electricity.
Following a recent agreement between the two countries, Head of the Iranian Oil Exporters Union, Hassan Khosrojerdi, had earlier announced Iran’s plan to build a heavy oil refinery in Indonesia with the daily production capacity of 150,000 barrels of oil in addition to five smaller refineries with daily production capacities of 30,000 to 50,000 barrels of gas condensates.
The financial value of the agreement has been estimated to be three billion dollars of which Iran’s share in the investment will mount to 30 percent as well as that Iranian technology and technical knowledge will be used in the construction of oil refineries.
