Iran to launch oil production from joint fields

TEHRAN, Oct. 17 (MNA) – Iranian deputy oil minister has described the latest status of developments in joint fields of South Pars Oil Layer and North Azadegan and said oil production will start by winter.

Roknodin Javadi has announced, “the developmental plan of South Pars phases 15 and 16 will soon be officially launched by the President.”

Managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) also expected the development projects of South Pars 17 and 18 to go operational by the end of the current Iranian year; “besides the implementation of these four phases and in accordance with the established plans, pilot phase of gas production at refineries of phases 19, 20 and 21 has also been put on the agenda," he asserted.

“In the development project of South Pars phases 19 to 21, the top priority would be installation of a row of natural gas sweetening equipment,” said Javadi adding, “in line with the development of gas phases, we are also designing plans to begin oil production at oil layers of South Pars field.”

On the latest development of South Pars gas layer, the official explained, “the offshore oil drilling has been accomplished and the oil processing plant is under construction.”

NIOC director has further estimated that crude oil production from South Pars oil layer will begin in 2016.
