ISIL menacing humanity: Velayati

ISIL menacing humanity: Velayati

TEHRAN, Aug. 16 (MNA) – Leader's Adviser Velayati commented on the regional developments, rapping the pro-ISIL policies of some regional states.

"The Middle Esat is changing so rapidly that analysts lag behind the events," said Ali Akbar Velayati addressing the opening ceremony of the eighth General Assembly of Islamic Radio and Television Union in the Iranian capital city of Tehran, on Sunday.

Pointing to the American policy in the region, the Iranian official added that the historical background of Iraqis in resisting the tyranny of Saddam helped them to get rid of the Americans earlier than expectations.

Highlighting the awakening movement in North Africa and Islamic states, the former Iranian Foreign Minister called the Syrian crisis a fake copy of the genuine awakening movement, a plot devised by Anti-Islam powers to topple the resistance lined from Iran to Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine.

The head of the Center for Strategic Research of Iran’s Expediency Council reminded that Syria was a key player in the face of aggressive Israelis and that was the reason that the Arab country was targeted by the enemies.

Iranian veteran diplomat continued that the foes expected the Syrian legitimate government would shatter within weeks but the resistance of the Syrian government, Asssad himself and the nation disappointed them.

If Syria had fallen, Lebanon would have fallen too and the same way the other fronts of resistance, Velayati asserted.

The Iranian official said the duty of the resistance axis, including countries such as Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine “is not only to fight against the dominance of foreigners in their countries,” but also to cut the influence of the US in the region.

Velayati also stated that Washington’s plot is to instigate conflict among different groups and sects in Muslim countries, calling for a united front against this plot.

He further noted that mercenaries are currently fighting in Muslim countries to realize the goals of the United States, adding that people in Iraq, Syria and other Muslim countries will stand against those mercenaries.

Velayati said hegemonic powers’ dream of splitting Muslim countries, particularly Iraq and Syria, will never come true. He also restated Iran’s support for Syrians and added that the very backing of Iran and other friends of Syria has so far defused the plots of the enemies in the country.

Velayati reassured that Assad’s status quo is much firmer and stronger than before and the course of events revealed his superiority.

The Iranian official also referred to the developments in Yemen, emphasizing that the US and its allies planned to divide the impoverished Arab country as well.

Velayati censured the international community for remaining silent on the killing of Yemeni people in airstrikes by Saudi Arabia, which started on March 26 – without a UN mandate – in a bid to undermine the revolutionary movement and restore power to fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, an ally of Riyadh.

The Iranian official affirmed that ISIL’s victory over Damascus would benefit nobody, warning the states funding the terrorist group that Takfiris were a threat to the whole region and not only the Shias.
