Iran, Germany hold ‘constructive’ meeting on various issues

TEHRAN, Apr. 16 (MNA) – Iranian senior official Ali Akbar Velayati met with German deputy-FM here on Wednesday and discussed boosting of ties, Iran’s nuclear issue and regional developments.

The head of Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati met with German Foreign Office State Secretary Markus Ederer in Tehran on Wednesday afternoon.

The two called the meeting on regional and nuclear issues ‘constructive’ and ‘productive,’ expressing hope for reaching good solutions in both cases.

Velayati noted the old ties between Iran and Germany, asserting Germany’s stance on several issues related to Iran is different from some other Western countries.

Pointing to the issue of restoring peace to the region and Yemen in particular, Velayati added he had explained to the German State Secretary the Islamic Republic’s four-point plan to resolve the crisis in Yemen which includes a ‘cease-fire, humanitarian assistance, a dialogue among local factions, and an agreement by regional and other powers that the country should have a broad-based government friendly to all its neighbors.’

The two sides also discussed various ways to break the deadlock in the current nuclear negotiations, and stressed the continuation of talks between Iran and 5+1.
