The research project seeks to answer some archeological questions about Achaemenid and post-Achaemenid architecture in ancient Persia, especially for reconstruction of initial structure of the empire’s seat, glorious Persepolis.
Seyed Mohammad Beheshti, the head of Cultural Heritage Research House and Italy’s Angelo Pompilio, of Faculty of Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of the University of Bologna have signed the agreement, over which Dr. Alireza Chaverdi and Pierfrancesco Callieri, professor of Asian Archeology will preside.
The project will last 40 days and researchers of Cultural Heritage Research House, Fars provincial Cultural Heritage Office and Parseh Research Foundation will cooperate.
Archeological excavations had been resumed in historical sites including 3 monuments when glazed bricks with imagery of Iranian mythology similar to those found in Mesopotamia and Shusha were discovered. So far, relics of up to 20 monuments have been discovered in Persepolis.
