Reaction of Guardian Council spokesman to Rafsanjani claim

TEHRAN, Jun. 12 (MNA) – Guardian Council spokesman believe the standard of disqualification of candidates is the opinion of the Council members and expert opinions of legal authorities and it is merely an expert opinion.

Abbasali Kadkhodaei in his news conference today in Laleh Hotel, and in response to a reporter question regarding Rafsanjani claims about his disqualifications said: “the standard of disqualification of candidates is the opinion of the Council members and expert opinions of legal authorities.”

The other day, Rafsanjani claimed that a senior security official which attended the meeting of the Guardian Council, caused his disqualification decision, and has had an impact on the opinion of Guardian Council members.

Guardian Council spokesman said: “Guardian Council is authorized by law to approve the qualifications, and to inquire about the history and records of the candidates from various agencies and officials.”

Kadkhodaei said: “This is a routine process, and it happened to a lot of candidates and is not a new phenomenon.”

He reiterated: “the standard of disqualification of candidates is provided in the form of votes and is detrimental and the expert's opinion is just an expert opinion.”
