Ali Falegari, head of Iran’s Kordestan department of cultural heritage who was visiting Iran’s handicrafts exhibit in Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah region told the Persian service of IRNA, “Iran’s Kordestan department can help the Kurdistan region of Iraq in conducting excavations and carrying out historical researches.”
“Iraq’s Kurdistan region enjoys a solid, intact market for Iranian handicrafts. In addition, Iran can play major role in medical tourism in attracting tourists from Iraq’s Kurdistan,” he said.
Handicrafts from the different cities of Isfahan, Mashhad, and Kermanshah have also been put on display at the exhibit but the handicrafts of Kordestan especially its wooden artifacts attract the most visitors, he explained.
He later added that with the Bashmaq border of Marvian region in Kermanshah Province being officially recognized, there are more possibilities for pilgrims from Iran and Iraq, and that it can help increase number of tourists as well.
Falegari regarded such exhibits as a worthwhile experience for Iran in tourism management. The exhibit which opened on May 26 will close on Saturday.
