Storytellers to narrate Persian tales in English at Iranian festival

TEHRAN, April 29 (MNA) -- Iranian storytellers will be narrating their tales in English for the first time at the 13th edition of the International Storytelling Festival.

The participants used to tell their stories only in Persian, but have been asked to retell their tales in English. The tales must bear Iranian concepts as the decision was made to promote Iranian and Islamic culture.

In a statement released by the secretariat of the festival, all Iranian and foreign storytellers are invited to submit a copy of their video-recorded tales in Persian or English before August 6 to the secretariat of the festival at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) or send them to the email address

The main topic is open but priority goes to those stories with an epic theme. Stories must be appropriate for children aged 6 to 16 and the narrators’ skills in communicating to the viewers will be taken into consideration.

IIDCYA instructors along with teachers at schools and kindergartens as well as veteran storytellers, parents and grandparents are encouraged to take part in the event.
