Leader Calls for Islamic Unity to Thwart Enemies’ Grand Strategy

TEHRAN, Nov. 28 (Mehr News Agency) — The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, made important statements during his sermons before the Eid ul-Fitr prayers and in the meeting that he had with government officials and Islamic countries' ambassadors based in Tehran on Wednesday.

Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the necessity for Islamic nations, governments, political camps, and intellectuals to remain vigilant toward the U.S. threats.

Washington's policy of threatening Middle Eastern countries entered a dangerous phase after the United States attacked Iraq, the Leader said, adding that Washington's claims about establishing democracy, human rights, and security in the region are empty rhetoric.

Middle Eastern nations must deal with the new situation while keeping in mind that the occupation in Palestine is still the major issue of the Islamic world.

Clearly, the Zionist aggression and the occupation of Iraq are both part of a grand strategy that has one aim.

In reality, there is a connection between the Zionists' expansionistic and repressive policy toward the Palestinian nation and the occupation of Iraq.

The main goals of the strategy are changing the map of the Middle East, suppressing regional Islamic liberation movements and groups, and unilaterally imposing U.S. hegemony over the region.

Washington is actually threatening the sovereignty of Middle Eastern countries under the pretext of supporting democracy and fighting terrorism. The situation in Iraq is a clear example of this.

In fact, U.S. officials are using Iraq as an experiment in military intervention and occupation in order to refine and implement their grand strategy for the Middle East.

In response, the Leader issued a warning about certain sensitive issues in Iraq, such as drafting the country's constitution, saying that any decision on the matter should be made in Iraq and not Washington.

Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the Iraqi people will not accept an imposed constitution or any other imposed system.

Without a doubt, under the circumstances, the Islamic world and the Middle Eastern countries confronting Washington's direct threats are in need of unity and agreement more than ever before. The only way the Islamic Ummah (community) can succeed, make progress, determine its own destiny, and resist the threats of superpowers is by refraining from disputes.

Ayatollah Khamenei once again emphasized that Islamic unity is essential for the triumph of Muslim nations over the enemies of the Muslim world. All Muslims concerned about the fate of the Ummah should heed his advice.
