Ravaqi completes Shahnameh dictionary

TEHRAN, Oct. 14 (MNA) -- “Grand Dictionary of Shahnameh” compiled by Ali Ravaqi will be released next March in Iran.

Accompanied by university students and junior academics, Ravaqi intends to publish the 3000-page dictionary in three volumes that will contain over 10,000 entries.

 

Iranian Shahnameh expert Ali Ravaqi began working on Shahnameh terminology in the 1960s. He presented his thesis in 1969 on “Shahnameh Lexicography” and his thesis adviser was Mohammad Moin, the Iranian scholar who is best known for his Persian dictionary.

 

Ali Ravaqi, who is the permanent member of the Academy of the Persian Language and Literature, has previously compiled “The Little Dictionary of Quranic Terminology” and the “Dictionary of suffixes in the Persian Language”.
