Basij force commander martyred in US-Israeli attack

TEHRAN, Mar. 18 (MNA) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday announced that Basij Force Commander Major General Gholam Reza Soleimani was martyred in the US-Israeli attack.

In a statement released late on Tuesday, the IRGC’s Public Relations Office stated that Basij Force Commander Major General Gholam Reza Soleimani was assassinated in the US-Israeli attack.

“We extend our congratulations and condolences on the martyrdom of Major General Gholam Reza Soleimani Commander of Basij Force to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, noble nation of Islamic Iran, valiant Basij members, and esteemed family of the dear martyr,” the statement read.

Throughout the years of dedicated service in the eight years of the Sacred Defense (Iraqi imposed war against Iran in 1980-1988), especially during his tenure as the commander of the Basij Force, martyr Gholam Reza Soleimani played a strategic and unparalleled role in modernizing the Popular Mobilization Forces (Basij), alleviating deprivation, and aiding the underprivileged and vulnerable class of society, it said.

This cowardly assassination indicates the significance and key role of Basij in the comprehensive battlefield against the terrorist US Army and criminal Zionist regime and their mercenaries, especially in this ongoing war, it added.

“We warn the wicked and terrorist murderers of this esteemed martyr that Basij members will never abandon seeking retribution for the blood of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, senior commanders, and civilians who have been martyred in the recent US-Israeli aggression.”

Undoubtedly, the pure blood of these martyrs will double the will of the heroic Iranian nation and all devoted Basij members in continuing the path of resistance and struggle against the Global Arrogance, the statement added.
