He made the remarks in a meeting attended by a group of Russian scholars, thinkers and intellectuals in Moscow on Tuesday, emphasizing that not only Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Iran and Russia secures national interests of the two countries, but also is a decisive factor in line with maintaining global peace and security.
During the meeting, Araghchi clarified views of the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the international developments, especially issues related to the international peace and security.
Iran's top diplomat termed the current situation in the West Asian region as chaotic and dangerous, blaming Israel as the only cause of insecurity in the region with all-out and full support of the United States.
He described the position of the European parties towards the gross violations of international law and committing genocide and war crimes by the Zionist regime ‘shameful’.
The Israeli regime’s continued impunity for the heinous crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian territory, its aggressions against Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and other countries in the region, and also continued indifference of some countries towards these violations is a great danger to the peace and stability of the region and the world, he underlined.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Araghchi referred to Iran’s nuclear issue, blaming the US government for its ‘continued breach of commitments and the three European countries' compliance with the illegal behavior of the United States, especially the unilateral withdrawal from Iran’s nuclear deal, aka known as JCPOA, in 2018 and military aggression against Iran in March 2025.
He emphasized the firm determination of the Iranian nation to defend the country’s legitimate rights and interests in accordance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
In this meeting, Russian scholars and thinkers raised their questions and points of view regarding Iran-Russia bilateral relations on the international stage.
