The Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments Khalaf Khalafov (Xalaf Xalafov) was received by Sanaei on Wednesday afternoon in Tehran.
Referring to the deep and friendly relations between the two governments and two nations, the Iranian official considered the process of cooperation and mutual visits between officials of the two countries a turning point in those relations, adding that, "We hope that the obstacles to the faster implementation of joint projects between the two countries will be removed and completed quickly and accurately."
Sanaei referred to the order of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to expand interactions with neighboring countries, especially the Republic of Azerbaijan, adding that "After the president Pezeshkian's visit to Baku, good breakthrough in interactions have been made, but there are still measures remaining, including the opening of land borders, the implementation of the prisoner exchange agreement, etc., which can be followed up and implemented by drawing an action plan and a cooperation schedule."
Pezeshkian's political advisor further stressed the importance of the impact of high-ranking officials' visits on advancing relations and expressed hope that "we will soon welcome Ilham Aliyev in Tehran."
The Azerbaijani President's special representative, for his part, expressed his satisfaction with the visit to Tehran, saying that "The relations between the two countries have solid cultural and historical bases. Given the serious will of the leaders of the two countries to expand these relations, all apparatuses and organizations are trying to remove barriers and develop cooperation."
Xalafov went on to describe the recent visits of Pezeshkian to the Republic of Azerbaijan as a turning point in the relations between the two countries and the creation of new potential. Referring to the important agreements reached during these visits, he stated, "A large part of the agreements, such as holding a joint commission, increasing mutual flights, starting the operation of the National Bank Baku branch, and establishing flights between Baku and Tabriz, have entered the implementation phase, and at the orders that have been issued, we are trying to implement the remaining agreements through cooperation and removing existing obstacles."
