Death toll from Afghanistan earthquake climbs to over 1,100

TEHRAN, Sep. 02 (MNA) – Afghan authorities said in an update on Tuesday that at least 1,411 people have been killed in an earthquake that hit eastern Afghanistan yesterday. At least 3,124 people have been injured.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid announced that the death toll from the earthquake that struck Afghanistan at midnight on Sunday has risen to more than 1,400 on Monday.

Mujahid wrote in a post on X that "at least 1,411 people have died so far in Kunar province, which suffered the most damage from the earthquake."

According to him, at least 3,124 people have also been injured and more than 5,400 houses have been destroyed.
