"Your visit to Russia has historical significance. You and President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin will sign the Comprehensive Strategic partnership agreement between Russia and Iran," Mishustin said at a meeting with Masoud Peseshkian.
The Russian premier said that the strategic agreement that will be signed by the two presidents later today will lay a solid foundation for the development of cooperation in the long term.
The two sides said that Russian-Iranian trade increased by 17% over the past year. They also emphasized that Russia and Iran are actively working in the transport sector, energy, and expanding cooperation in education: more than 9,000 Iranian students are studying in Russia.
According to Sputnik, the two officials further stressed that Russian-Iranian relations are future-oriented and based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect, and consideration of mutual interests.
