Senior Iranian, Russian diplomats hold talks on Gaza, region

TEHRAN, Mar. 11 (MNA) – Senior Iranian and Russian diplomats discussed the latest developments in the region, especially the Zionist regime's crimes against the oppressed people of Gaza, as well as issues related to Syria, Yemen and Libya.

Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department Alexander Kinschak who has traveled to Tehran at the head of a Russian delegation met with the Iranian foreign minister's senior adviser for special political affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji.

In the meeting, the two sides also emphasized the need to continue and expand bilateral consultations regarding regional issues. They discussed and exchanged views on the latest developments in Syria, including the political and field situation and common strategies to help improve the economic and humanitarian situation, as well as the continuation of the Syrian political process.

In the talks, Khaji called the savage attacks of the Zionist regime against the oppressed people of Gaza and the killing of thousands of women and children as a result of the all-out support of the United States, saying that, "The Zionist regime has achieved nothing but the brutal killing of civilians and committing crimes against humanity amid the inaction and the silence of the international community to spread its attacks and military aggression to Syria and Lebanon."

The two sides also expressed hope that the Libyan political crisis will end through the will and decision of the people of that country, while emphasizing maintaining the integrity, unity, and sovereignty of the country.

Concerning the developments in Yemen, Khaji warned about the counterproductive effect of illegal US and United Kingdom attacks on peace efforts in that country.
