Iran boxer beats Indian rival in 2024 Int’l Boxing Tournament

TEHRAN, Feb. 07 (MNA) – The 63.5-kg Iranian boxing fighter Ali Habibinejad defeated his rival from India and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 75th International Boxing Tournament Strandja underway in Sofia, Bulgaria.

On the third day of the tournament, Habibinejad emerged victorious against India’s Youth World Champion Vanshaj Kumar and caused one of the main sensations of the day in the tournament.

Iranian boxing fighter will compete with his rival from Moldova in the quarterfinals.

Iran, Algeria, Armenia, Austria, host Bulgaria, China, France, Georgia, Greece, Guatemala, India, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Nigeria, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan are the participating 28 countries in Sofia.

Olympic, world and European champions and medalists meet at the 75th-anniversary edition of the Strandja Tournament.

The 75th International Boxing Tournament Strandja is underway in Sofia, Bulgaria from February 2-12, 2024.
