Iran nuclear technology in line with peace, serving humanity

TEHRAN, Oct. 03 (MNA) – The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami says that Iran is not seeking to build nuclear weapons and that the achievements of Iran's nuclear technology will serve humanity.

Eslami made the remarks while speaking to a group of attendees of the 37th International Islamic Unity Conference (IIUC) who were visiting Iran's nuclear achievements on Monday.

The achievements of Iran's nuclear technology are in line with peace and serving humanity, and all activities are carried out based on the standards and regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency and within the framework of the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement and NPT," he said, adding that all of Iran's nuclear activities are followed by the Agency's continuous monitoring.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is not dependent, does not follow any party, and determines its national interests based on its national capacities, Eslami stressed.

"We offer what we achieve to others as well. We are opposed to and fight any hegemony over science and technology and we are looking for research work and technological production," he cited.

Saying that in one of the non-energy sectors, Iran has been able to produce 60 types of radiopharmaceuticals despite the sanctions, the Iranian nuclear chief emphasized that today, some of these medicines are exported to foreign countries.

Referring to the JCPOA deal, Elsami slammed the irresponsibility of the Western sides of the agreement in adhering to their obligations, saying that they have not only not lifted the anti-Iran sanctions, but have also increased the embargoes and do not even allow other countries to cooperate with Iran.
