Colonel Reza Shojaei said that 27,870 liters of smuggled fuel had been confiscated from seven cars.
Seven defendants have been detained in this regard, he added.
Subsidized fuel in Iran is seen as an opportunity for smugglers to draw huge benefits. Iran, however, re-imposed the use of fuel cards and rationed gasoline back in November 2019 which was aimed in part at taking the smuggling under control.
