In a message on Saturday, Iranian President Sayyed Ebrahim Raeisi offered his condolences over the last night's demise of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Muhammad Saeed Al-Tabatabai al-Hakim.
The Iranian president hailed Ayatollah Hakim as "one of the pillars of the Marja and Fiqh in Iraq" who spend his life propagating Islam and the Ahl al-Bayt teachings.
Raeisi also praised him for his struggles in defense of the Iraqi people's rights during the time of the former Saddam regime.
"No doubt that the late Ayatollah Muhammad Saeed Hakim, along with other members of the noble Hakim family, played an irreplaceable and significant role in supporting the Iraqi people to achieve their freedom and independence," Raeisi's message read.
At the end of his condolence message, the Iranian president offered his condolences to Imam Zaman (Shia 12th Imam), seminaries, Marja, especially Grand Ayatollah Sistani, the Iraqi people and the Hakim family.
