Iran, Pakistan confer on naval cooperation

TEHRAN, Nov. 28 (MNA) – Deputy Coordinator of the Iranian Army Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari met and held talks with Pakistan’s Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi on Wed. in Islamabad.

During the meeting held on the sidelines of the 10th edition of International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS), the Pakistani side proposed drawing up a naval agreement between the two countries.

For his part, Admiral Sayyari described Iran and Pakistan as two friendly and neighboring countries that would not allow any foreign interference and divisions.

The two sides also agreed on joint cooperation in educational exchanges, mutual dispatch of fleets, maintaining maritime security and countering insecurity at sea, information exchange, joint military exercises, cooperation in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, student and teacher exchange, technical cooperation and exchange of military and defense experiences.
