Rwanda eyes expansion of ties with Iran

TEHRAN, Nov. 13 (MNA) – Rwanda’s new Foreign Minister Richard Sezibera hailed the friendly ties between his country and Iran, calling for expansion of mutual ties in a wide gamut of fields including medicine and agriculture.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Iran's Accredited Ambassador to Burundi Seyed Morteza Mortazavi, which was held in the capital city of Kigali on Tuesday.

The Rwandan official dismissed the unilateral measures by some countries against the Islamic Republic and condemned their “double standards towards human rights and terrorism".

Sezibera expressed his government’s readiness to expand mutual ties, including economic relations, with Iran.

He invited Iranian technological and knowledge-based firms, especially those active in the medical and animal products sectors, to have a stronger presence in the Rwandan market.

Mortazavi, for his part, pointed to the great capacities of Iranian firms in different fields, especially in the energy sector. He said Iranian contractors are ready to provide a wide range of services, including the construction of power plants, roads and buildings, as well as implementation of telecommunication projects in foreign markets.

The Iranian official expressed Iran’s readiness to facilitate the presence of Iranian firms in the African country’s market.
