Iran, Russia confer on anti-corruption strategies

TEHRAN, Nov. 8 (MNA) – Head of the General Inspection Organization of Iran and Russia’s prosecutor general met and held talks on ways of fighting corruption and related crimes on Wednesday in Moscow.

Head of the General Inspection Organization of Iran (GIO), Naser Seraj, arrived in Moscow Wednesday to take part at an international conference of Eurasian Ombudsman association.

On the sidelines of the conference on Wednesday, the Iranian official met and held talks with Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Yury Yakovlevich Chaika, on ways to expand legal and judicial cooperation.

The two sides also conferred on agreements within the ombudsman’s framework of cooperation, protection of civil rights, as well as some issues facing Iranian citizens and ways to help solve them.

Other topics of discussion included fighting administrative and financial corruption and crimes, mechanisms to strengthen regional and international cooperation, particularly within the framework of Eurasian Ombudsman association, as well as strategies for training experts in the field of anti-corruption activities.

GIO is a member of Asian Ombudsman Association and International Ombudsman Institute. It is also the member of International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities.
