“What Americans sought to do was to exert so much pressure on Iran that our internal affairs would go haywire, and although they did exert pressure, they did not succeed in achieving their goal,” said Larijani in a meeting with governors of western provinces on Wednesday, while noting the US’ failure in cutting the country’s oil sales to zero.
He called for various mechanisms and a constructive approach based on diplomacy and activation of the country’s domestic capacities in a bid to ease the pressure and circumvent the US sanctions.
Larijani highlighted the importance of the private sector in helping to turn the tide in Iran’s favor, saying the private sector needs to be motivated to make bigger investments in the country.
He then maintained that Iran has amicable relations with its neighbors and does business with as many as 15 neighboring countries, adding, however, that a few regional countries are also trying to make problems for Iran.
Larijani further stressed the role of diplomacy as well as reliance on domestic capabilities as the strategy to manage the current situation.
