Iran wants US to behave like a normal country: envoy

TEHRAN, Nov. 8 (MNA) – Iranian Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad said that Iran’s only expectation of the US is for it to behave like a normal country that refrains from bullying and profiting from war by selling arms.

“We have only one expectation of the US and that is for it to behave like a normal country, i.e., for it to refrain from bullying, sanctioning and threatening countries whose policies it disagrees with, and, to stop profiting from war by selling arms used to attack other nations,” wrote Iranian Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad in a tweet on Wednesday.

His tweet was followed by an image of Donald Trump’s movie-style poster which announced the re-imposition of sanctions against Iran. The sanctions, which followed Trump’s unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, came into effect on November 5, targeting the country’s energy and banking sectors.

Last year, the US president signed the largest arms deal in history with Saudi Arabia, which is leading a coalition in waging a war against Yemen. During Trump's visit to Riyadh in May 2017, Saudi Arabia agreed to buy $110 billion worth of US weapons and signed "investment" deals worth billions more.
