PGSR Euro-5 gasoline output to cross 40 ml/d

TEHRAN, Nov. 04 (MNA) – The managing director of Persian Gulf Star Refinery (PGSR) said the facility’s Euro-5 gasoline output is set to exceed 40 million liters per day within the next month.

Mohammad Ali Dadvar said the facility, located in the city of Bandar Abbas, southern Hormozgan province is currently supplying a daily average of 30 ml/d of Euro-5 gasoline, adding the strategic fuel’s output exceed 40 ml/d within a month.

He added that PGSR is currently producing 12 million liters of Euro-4 diesel fuel and 1,200 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per day, adding that the amount of diesel fuel produced at the refinery will reach 14 to 16 million liters by the end of the current fiscal year (March 20, 2019).

The third phase of PGSR started a pilot run in October in a step toward increasing the country’s gasoline output and self-sufficiency in meeting domestic demand.

According to Dadvar, efforts are underway to fully develop the phase by the end of the year

“Once the third phase goes on full swing, PGSR’s daily gasoline output will reach 40 million liters per day,” the official added.

The key refinery was designed to help complete the value-added chain in the oil and gas industries.

PGSR, which is described as the Middle East's largest refinery, is built in three phases. Each phase is designed to produce 12 million liters per day of high-octane gasoline and diesel, as part of efforts to wean Iran away from the fuels' import.
