Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali was speaking in a ceremony on Sunday afternoon to commemorate the ‘Week of Passive Defense’, during which he also said that the duty of Passive Defense Organization was to defend the country against non-military threats.
“Today, enemies use economy as a battleground, and the US Treasury has been turned into a war ministry against Iran” Jalali said.
He said that there are a wide range of non-military threats against Iran, adding that the enemies use technological tools to discredit the Iranian Establishment.
He said that some threats are part of wider psychological warfare waged through media and social networking websites with the aim of making the people feel disappointed in the Establishment.
Head of Iran's Passive Defense Organization further noted that 70% of the threats are targeting the country’s economy, calling for maintaining unity among different political factions in the country amid the threats.
Jalali said that the Americans had predicted that the Iranian Establishment should have collapsed in summer but it is already November, indicating their policies to overthrow the Islamic Establishment has failed.
He added that the Americans have now focused on adding to pressures, which shows their withdrawal from their earlier announced policy to topple the Iranian government.
He referred to the use of social networking websites as a tool used by enemies to target Iran’s economic system, stressing that Iran will not allow outsiders to decide for its monetary system elsewhere and violate its sovereignty.
The official added that Iran’s Passive Defense Organization and High Council of Virtual Space have joined hands to protect the country’s national sovereignty over the social networking websites.
Jalali further pointed out that recently the next-generation multi-faceted Stuxnet virus sought to infiltrate into Iranian computer systems but was discovered.
